WELCOME PARENTS, join us in making reading fun! READS events are family friendly and designed for the entire family to enjoy. Students will receive invitations to local READS events through their school sent home in daily backpack mail or weekly folders. All events are held on weeknights at your local mall. Below is some information to help plan your night at the mall.


  • Encourages students that reading is fun and supports your school’s library.

  • Features fun interactive themed displays and games for students to use their reading skills to win prizes.

  • Students are invited to drop by anytime from 5-7 PM. Plan to spend approximately 45 minutes to complete all event activities.

  • Activities include a reading scavenger hunt around the mall, book raffle, word puzzles, interactive photo booth and storybook coloring station.

  • The mall donates $1 to your school’s library for every student that attends. Be sure to bring the voucher on the bottom of your invitation.

  • Many mall stores participate with special shopping and dining promotions so plan on staying to shop and eat!

  • Siblings are welcome so bring the whole family to enjoy a fun night out.


  • Honors students who met their school’s reading goals.

  • Features a recognition ceremony and presentation of certificates of achievement by inspiring community leaders.

  • Your student’s ceremony time will be listed on their invitation. The ceremony will last approximately 30 minutes.

  • Come early to see your student’s names displayed on a large Wall of Recognition in the mall.

  • Participating community leaders will be available before and after the ceremony to sign special bookmarks for student readers.

  • Only students who met their reading goals will receive an invitation and be recognized but family, friends and siblings are welcome to attend.

  • Be sure to bring a camera to document this special achievement!
