CALLING ALL TEACHERS, we want to partner with your school! It’s easy to join the READS program to promote reading success. We do the work assigning your event dates, providing invitations to send home with students and hosting two events that further your efforts in the classroom to make reading fun and exciting. See the frequently asked questions below for more information on each event.

READS SPIRIT NIGHT

September - November
Encourage students to read throughout the year!

What is the READS Spirit Night?

Held at the beginning of the school year, the READS Spirit Night aims to encourage students to read and support your library. The event is a family night out with fun interactive displays and games where students can use their reading skills to win prizes. For every student that attends the mall donates $1 to the school’s library.

How does it work?

Together we select a date for the event. The mall delivers event invitations to you to send home to all students. The invitation includes a voucher for students to turn in during the event. The vouchers are counted at the end of the event and a check is sent to the school.

What can students do during the event?

There are reading games and activities for students during the event including a reading scavenger hunt around the mall, book raffle, word puzzles, photo booth and storybook coloring station. Students earn prizes for completing each game including having their name displayed on the mall’s digital marquee.

Where is the event held?

Center court in your local mall.

When is the event held?

Weeknights from 5 PM - 7 PM. Families can drop by anytime to participate in the event, mingle with others and enjoy shopping and dining specials from the mall.

How can I make the Spirit Night a success?

Promote the event at your school by making announcements, promoting on social media, encouraging classroom challenges and providing additional incentives for students and teachers who attend.

How much does it cost?

There is no cost to participating schools. All READS events are funded by the mall as a community based marketing initiative that brings families to the mall in support of local reading success.

READS RECOGNITION NIGHT

April - July
Recognize students for meeting their reading goals!

What is the READS Recognition Night?

Held at the end of the school year, the READS Recognition Night aims to publicly recognize students who met their school’s reading goals throughout the year. During the event students receive a certificate of achievement, hear from inspiring community leaders and see their name displayed on a Wall of Recognition in the Mall.

How does it work?

Together we select a date for the event. You submit the names of students who met their reading goals and the mall delivers invitations to send home to those students. All submitted names are called during the recognition ceremony and included in the Wall of Recognition displayed in the mall.

What reading goals do students have to meet?

The event is customized to promote the goals already in place at your school whether it be Accelerated Reader, the 40 Book Challenge or any other custom reading program.

How do students benefit from the event?

Public recognition is one of the strongest motivators for young students. We recognize students in a public place and bring in community leaders to present reading awards. Having additional recognition outside of the classroom and the home further encourages students to meet their goals so they too can be recognized at the mall in front of their family, teachers and peers.

Where is the event held?

Center court in your local mall.

When is the event held?

Weeknights between 5 PM and 7 PM. Your school will be assigned a specific ceremony time where student’s names will be called on stage during a special recognition program.

How much does it cost?

There is no cost to participating schools. All READS events are funded by the mall as a community based marketing initiative that brings families to the mall in support of local reading success.
